The Texas Massacre 2 (1984)

Target Audience-

The target audience for The Texas Massacre 2  is similar to the target audience found in my film opening. This is is because both film revolve around the same premise of serial butcher that attacks aggressively. there attacks are fully visible on screen therefore making the rating of the film restricting to an a slightly older demographic between the age of 17-30.

Marketing-

The marketing campaign of the this was doom from the beginning. This film had to rekindle the hype for the original film that premiered 12 years ago. So with this being kept in mind the marketing team choose not put more of their budget on marketing and didn't do anything out of the ordinary when marketing thi film.

Posters-

This movie is marketed very similar to any film with billboards, posters, and commercial spots. The billboards and Poster of the film were very unique marketing strategy that implemented that stands out. The popular teen film, The Breakfast Club  came our prior to the to the movie's release and therefore the marketing team of The Texas Massacre 2  noticed that audience going wild for  The Breakfast Club  so they decide to hop on the success of this movie by making a poster that resemble the poster of The Breakfast Club . Even though the film's plots have nothing in resemblance this was done to play with the nostalgia of the audience to so see that this poster and remember The Breakfast Club  prompting them to want to see this film. The commercials spots where created highlighting the chaotic nature of the film that  would engage audiences.

Trailers-

The trailers for this film started with a extreme close up,insert shot of miscellaneous object in a run down shed. Towards the end of the trailer a series of short take wide shots of bits of the action sequence that contained the main antagonist, Leatherface, swinging his oversized chainsaw into objects with resulting fly sparks. The entire trailer is voiced over announcing the return of the series after it 12 year hiatus. This is a very goof trailer for a horror film but its very misleading. This is because during the month leading up to the release the film was completely altered to be of horror humor. Therefore the trailers were playing with the persuasive technique of emotions specifically in excitement. However with the change in genere the trailer are not extremely misleading and result in audience attending a film that they they have no background on.

Possible Use-

This strategies would be good to implement in the marketing of my film as its a simple way to bring attention to an unknown film by in a way riding off the success of a successful film. In my film I could postpone the release and wait for a film similar to mine to premiere and do well and and replicate a similar marketing strategies but this is a very cheap way to get publicity as it gives a bad image to the overa film and therefore should go along with this aspect. The poster of the film is perfectly good the way it was designed  the style resembles more of a teen comedy film due to the playful nature of the characters on the film and the bright and lively color scheme. Lastly the trailers pacing and style could be mimicked for my film as it would present the plot and a small portion of the main drawling point being the violence and gore conveying it easily and effectively.
