CCR #2- Draft

2) How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as real media text ? The aspect of my opening that is engaging to the audience besides the obvious gore and violence would have to be the main antagonist, Scout. This is because he is sort of portrayed a a slasher icon and if this capitalized on it can bring audience in wanting to learn more about him. This would playing with Pathos of the audiences specifically utilizing the persuasive technique of emotion with curiosity as the film doesn't reveal much too quick so it keep audience intrigues to continue watching the film to want to find out he truth behind everything. The marketing for my film would consist of 3 forms that would catch the attention of people between the age of 17-40. These forms would consist of a social media marketing campaign, TV Commercials highlight the main drawling point of the film (the cannibalistic/gore part of the film), finally a poster that tease the main antagonist of...

CCR #1- Draft

1.) How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Camera Work- The film I created uses and challenges many conventions of filmmaking. The first notable convention in the film is the pacing. The film is driven mostly with multiple short takes that keep the audience from fully being able to grasps what happening and help the film move along. Based on my research, horror film tend to have very long drawn out takes, with over exaggerated acting as they avoid a threat. A perfect example, is the opening of Nightmare on Elm Street with Nancy wondering an open corridor for a minute and a half. This conventions really doesn't convey much to the audience as far as plot, more in establishing the specific scenarios sort of like a cold opening. I took a note from the film Child's play, that establish the entire premise of the posses doll in the opening that more resembles an action film. However when applying this to my film i de...

Quarter 3 Submission /Revisions

Image
Quarter 3 Submission   For my Quarter 3 Submission, all the revisions from the Revision/Feedback Post were completed. At first look, one may notice not much change. This was due to the minimal touch ups that were done. One of the main edits that where done where with the opening credits. The font color was changed to something brighter to make it more visible. this didn't work so i decided to add a black outline to the font to make it stand out from the image. The audio in the beginning when the radio it being turn up has been made to increase in volume to actually make it seem as if it was being turned up. One change  not mentioned that I quickly changed back after I altered it was to keep the letterbox bars. I kept them simply because I thought they were visually appealing. I know that to accomplish the letterbox effect all that need to be done is to change the resolution of the sequence but for some reason it wasn't letting it me do that to the footage I collected so I...

Distribution Plan

Distribution Plan- Digital/Conventional Distribution- The most effective way to distribute my film would be to go virtual. This is because i'm targeting a audience of young adult, between the ages 17-30.  Due to this it would be a wiser idea to peruse a more digital heavy distribution plan. The traditional "Box Office model" distribution pan will be used cause even though the attendance to conventional theater has been lowering every year it will still a golden standard for rating  from a critic for a film that can garner more attention for a film in itself.. The right to my film would be sold to a distributor to handle it getting to exhibitors. Lionsgate would be a good distributor as they have had experience with horror films such as the one I researched Jigsaw. They would distribute it to exhibitor to the 4 main exhibitors in the US but focus on more AMC since as of July 2018 have had the most attendance out of all the exhibitors. My film I will not just focus on...

It managed to rack up about 52 million follows across multiple social media platforms. This outpour of support prompted the producers to continue the film down a traditional theatrical distribution release. The film was picked up by Paramount Pictures that distributed the rights to 3,608 exhibitors in the United States. The exhibitors premiered the film on April 6th,2018. The film went on the make about 11 million on the opening night and unlike most horror films instead of dropping the rest of opening weekend it actually increased to about 19 million more. Also the film only dropped in profit by 39% the 2nd weekend, better than 50% than horror films. It went to make ...

Image
Distribution- Jigsaw's- Theatrical Distribution-  For the 8th instalment the Saw franchise, Jigsaw, The film followed the traditional theatrical distribution model that was carried out very poorly. The rights were acquired by Lionsgate that distributed the film to 2941 exhibitors in the United States. However the film made its official premiere in the United Kingdom on October 26, 2017. However the film was only made available to a few hundred exhibitors. The film was officially premiered in the United States on October 27, 2017. An important aspect to mention is that the film was showed on IMAX screen the first week. Domestically the film went on to make 16.5 million the opening weekend 4 million less than the it was projected to make. This is the second lowest in the franschie behind Saw 3D. The film went on to perform worst the following weeks. The film dropped a huge 61% on it's second weekend only making 6.8 million, it later dropped another 47% in it's 3rd week...

Distribution Research- Traditional Model

Traditional Film Distribution Model- "Box office" Model- The Distribution process of a film commences after the film has been completed and is ready to be viewed. This process is important as its how the movie is made available for the audience. The process is handled by a distributor. The distributor is the person in charge of getting the film viewed by audiences making sure has a successful which is often completed with help of the marketing team. The traditional model commonly referred to as the "Box office Model" is one of the many ways a film can be distributed. This process starts with a the producer, the person that is in the invested in the film and is responsible for the physical facilities and essential credited for the film to do well in order to get their money back and make a profit. They can either have a distribution contract with a third party and have it distributed like this but for the the traditional model normally the theatrical rights are...
