CCR #2- Draft

2) How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as real media text ?

The aspect of my opening that is engaging to the audience besides the obvious gore and violence would have to be the main antagonist, Scout. This is because he is sort of portrayed a a slasher icon and if this capitalized on it can bring audience in wanting to learn more about him. This would playing with Pathos of the audiences specifically utilizing the persuasive technique of emotion with curiosity as the film doesn't reveal much too quick so it keep audience intrigues to continue watching the film to want to find out he truth behind everything. The marketing for my film would consist of 3 forms that would catch the attention of people between the age of 17-40. These forms would consist of a social media marketing campaign, TV Commercials highlight the main drawling point of the film (the cannibalistic/gore part of the film), finally a poster that tease the main antagonist of the film, Scout.

Marketing plan-

Social media Campaign-

The reasoning for emphasizing on a social media as a selling point of the film is due to the fact that everybody is on their phones and or online in some form. Nowadays the best way that people are informed on issues are through their exposure on the intern and their beloved celebrities. For my film,  I would create a social media account for the film from the perspective of the antagonist, Scout. By doing this i could not only release trailers and media directly about the film but also have a lore behind the film with scout making periodical post reveling his thoughts giving a background to the film before it comes out building a fan base further immersing the community into the film. Thi would be capitalizing on the missed opportunity of "the hills have eyes" marketing capigin in regards to their lack luster website and social media presence. Also, col labs could be made with bigger a celebrities to make it seem like they are apart of the universe and therefore they  can bring their fans base to the hype of the film. an example a page would be meme accounts that revive millions of views on their post as they already offer page promotions for low prices.

TV Commercial-

TV commercials are pivotal point of marketing a film to the audience. This is because it give the people a taste of the final product. This is important because if you can maintain an audience hooked for 30 seconds to them they will think that it will be the same fro the rest of the film. For the Tv commercial in my film i would buy the right to use some popular rap song in the commercial. The trailer would a be very edited down version of the open trailer with quicker cuts and make the cuts occur at certain parts of the song to make it flow along better. The multiple trailers will be made as the the released date nears new ones will air. But no twist/surprises will be revealed until the film is put out because this reduce the excitement of the film. One thing that will similar in all the TV commercials I researched  is that it will edited very fast pace to keep the view intrigues as slow place will not catch the audiences attention due to people's short attentions spans.

Poster-

The poster for my film will be modeled off the poster for the Silence of the lamb. A very simple a darkly lit image of my antagonist as I want to make him a very scary figure that will help the horror effect of the film, and  sort of portrayed a a slasher icon and if by capitalized keep the audience predicting what he looks like and what dose. It will have grainy and rough texture overlay the image to give the grimy look that film mood set. Also the grain gives it the illusion that was taken on actual film resembling the older horror films from the 80's. The poster will also empathize the title of "Fresh Meat" and the a few names form the actors directors along the top. It will have the same font as the one used in the film but in a yellow-ish color to emphasize it. Having scout be the main focus and their be a dark "abyss" background helps to reinforce the idea of not fully knowing what is happening a constant theme that the film utilizes.

Distribution Plan-

Digital/Conventional Distribution-

The most effective way to distribute my film would be to go virtual. This is because i'm targeting a audience of young adult, between the ages 17-30.  Due to this it would be a wiser idea to peruse a more digital heavy distribution plan. The traditional "Box Office model" distribution pan will be used cause even though the attendance to conventional theater has been lowering every year it will still a golden standard for rating  from a critic for a film that can garner more attention for a film in itself.. The right to my film would be sold to a distributor to handle it getting to exhibitors. Lionsgate would be a good distributor as they have had experience with horror films such as the one I researched Jigsaw. They would distribute it to exhibitor to the 4 main exhibitors in the US but focus on more AMC since as of July 2018 have had the most attendance out of all the exhibitors. My film I will not just focus on domestic but also international specifically China. This is because it China only allows a few films a year to hold but it hard to get approved as it has many regulations. But with a separate cut of the film being made specifically to be aired in China it can grant me access to that huge audience.

Also, the film would be released for streaming on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu. this is because most of the audience i am targeting are on their phone all day, it can be said that their phone is attached to their body. Putting it on streaming service the same day the film premieres in theaters will open the film to people that can or don't want to have to got the movie theaters, making it so that people don't want to wait for the the Blu-Ray and DVD release. This would be learning from the mistake that Jigsaw did with lacking in focusing on the streaming aspect. Also by opening up to the film to more people on premiere night it would bring up a bigger revenue  the opening weekend. A month after the premiere the movie be released on home movie copies with extended scene, deleted scenes, and behind the scene extras to intrigue the audience. The film will remain in theater for the normal 90 day runtime.
